Frequently asked questions
Don’t see your question? Email Dr. Loree — she answers personally.
Dr. Loree doesn’t believe sophisticated testing, biomarkers or functional medicine interventions are inherently misguided — they have a real place. What she has observed, and wrote about in The Longevity Trap, is that people often gravitate toward the most sophisticated interventions while neglecting the behaviors with the greatest potential to improve their health. Thriveology’s approach is intelligent prioritization: start with the whole person, identify the greatest opportunities, test when a result would change a decision, and keep the plan focused. We aren’t selling complexity. We’re offering the expertise to determine how much complexity is warranted for you.
Conventional medicine is designed to diagnose disease and manage symptoms. Functional medicine asks why the symptoms are there — connecting your lab results to your history, lifestyle and environment and addressing the root cause: thyroid, gut, hormones, metabolism, inflammation, or simply too little sleep and too much stress. Done well, it complements the care you already receive — and it is a way of thinking about health, not a collection of tests.
Sometimes. Everything you take is evaluated the same way: is it worth keeping, worth investigating further, or adding burden without benefit? A genuine deficiency or a well-supported intervention earns its place; others may not, and we’ll show you the evidence either way. We never ask you to stop prescribed medications or clinician-directed treatment without your prescriber involved.
No. Thriveology complements the care you already receive. In fact, part of what you leave with is a clearer understanding of your body and the right questions to bring to the rest of your healthcare team. We never ask you to change prescribed medications without your physician’s involvement.
Thirty minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Loree. You’ll share what’s been going on, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to change. She’ll tell you honestly whether the Thrive Method is a good fit and recommend a first step — a consultation, a review of labs you already have, or a specific panel. There’s no obligation.
Yes — and that’s the preferred starting point. The Thriveology Evaluation with your existing labs is a 60-minute evaluation ($259) of results you already have, plus a review of what you’re currently taking. It’s often the fastest route to answers — especially if you’ve been told everything looks “normal” but you don’t feel normal. Dr. Loree recommends an additional test only when the result would clarify an important question or change a decision.
Blood panels are drawn at a Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp location near you, anywhere in the country. Specialty tests — DUTCH hormone, GI-MAP, SIBO, mycotoxin and toxic-metal panels — are at-home kits that ship to your door. Your evaluation with Dr. Loree is scheduled online.
Three things. A 60-minute evaluation where Dr. Loree walks you through every marker — what to act on, what to watch, what doesn’t change the plan. Your personal Functional Health Report: a plain-English document that reads each result in the context of your history, maps the findings to your body systems, and prioritizes the few concerns worth acting on. And a focused, realistic plan with a manageable number of interventions — targeted where the evidence supports them, foundational where that’s the bigger opportunity.
Everyone is different, but many clients feel the change in as little as 12 weeks once the right priorities are in place. Lasting change — the kind that holds — is what the 3- and 6-month programs are built for, and they’re designed to end with you confidently managing your own health.
The 3- and 6-month programs are the full framework in practice: evaluation, purposeful testing where it’s warranted, a focused plan with a manageable number of interventions — and one-on-one health coaching so the changes last, with progress measured by how you feel and function rather than by biomarkers alone. Because the work is tailored to your case, pricing is discussed on your free Thrive Plan Call.
Because knowing what matters and consistently doing what matters are two different things, and because individual circumstances can make the path less straightforward than general advice suggests. People may know they should sleep more, eat better, build strength or manage stress — translating that into realistic change is the hard part. Others have legitimate clinical concerns that need thoughtful assessment, coordination with their medical providers, or targeted investigation. We’re not selling secret knowledge. We’re offering personalized judgment, accountability, practical strategies and support.
